Networking
The physical network consists of cables that are linked together by various switches and routers. Communication over the network is made possible by supporting several protocols, the Internet Protocol being the most important. The network interconnects the local networks of connected institutions (LAN) and enables the institutions to contact national and international networks that like Wild Area Network (WAN).
GSIL undertakes innovative projects to research new technologies and to improve the network. The volume of traffic over the network doubles each year. It is therefore important to continuously consider possibilities of increasing the capacity of the network and its connections or to make more optimum use of the capacity.
